This is a large and unique specimen of highly modified fluorite cubes on a beautiful quartz matrix from Xia Yang Mine in China. Often referred to as “QR Code” fluorite, the cube faces formed into a pixelation effect that is unique to this location. The front facing side of the specimen is covered in beautiful teal and light blue fluorite crystals growing on and within the protrusions of quartz matrix. The reverse side features many small fluorite crystals resulting in a druzy of fluorite coating the quartz. On close examination you will notice purple phantoms and bluish green zoning and in some areas the quartz within the fluorite is partially exposed. You will also notice a slight shift of green to blue fluorescence between natural light (warm) and LED (white) lighting. The different interactions between fluorite and quartz across this piece make it a joy to view from a distance or up close, if you love unique and beautiful fluorite specimens this piece would be a great addition to your collection.
