The Naica Mine is famous for the "Cave of The Crystals" featuring some of the largest gypsum/selenite crystals ever discovered - Crystals over 30 feet long!!.

Alongside the amazing crystal caves of selenite a variety of mineral specimens can be found - Sulfides like pyrite, galena and sphalerite are often found with fluorite or calcite - The specimen I have to offer you has a nice assortment of those associations. The matrix is composed mostly of galena, pyrite, sphalerite with patches of calcite and small fluorite crystals. On the "showtime" side of the specimen the pyrite and galena crystals are very well formed and sizeable enough to create a beautiful contrast against the purple tinged fluorite crystals. I say purple "tinged" because at first glance the fluorite appears water clear but under mixed spectrum LED light the purple becomes more visible.

A standout feature of the specimen is the VERY unique spinel-law contact twinned crystal (lower left) - To top it off the fluorite crystals have an electric blue reaction under longwave UV! If you collect mexican minerals this specimen is a must add to your collection.
